Should I Follow Grimes on X (Formally Known as Twitter)?

‘The primary uniting force in this country is anime. It’s the only media through line that I can reliably observe regardless of political alignment.’ — Grimes on X(formally known as Twitter), 26th February 2025.
For the longest time I didn’t follow Grimes on Twitter/X.
When I saw her post reading, ‘The primary uniting force
in this country [USA] is anime.’ I’d never listened
to a Grimes’ song. I’m typing Grimes into YouTube
right now. I’ll listen to the first song that comes up
and tell you what I think of it.
There are people in a car. They’re driving someplace. It’s evening
in a desert and Grimes’ is wailing. She’s dancing now.
There’s a purple sky now. It fades to black and I feel creeped out.
There is a sudden and very overwhelming realisation
that this song is five-minutes long.
What does it mean
when Grimes’ comes back
into view? I understand that she is dancing
towards the car’s headlights
as it reverses slowly through a desert.
A theme is established and it is a theme
that concerns dancing
in the presence of others
who are themselves
not dancing.
And Grimes is very attractive — yes —
even though all these other white people look like hippies.
I don’t particularly like the hippie aesthetic and the last thing I wanted
to see were Hollister hippies milling around whilst Grimes plays
with a stick.
The car is now approaching her
like a chorus of angels cast from heaven.
The word Genesis appears in
everything described so far
and when the word disappears it’s morning standing
before an ocean, waves crashing behind Grimes.
Grimes’ track, Genesis, is over ten years old. I clicked skip
on the advertisement for toffee even though I thought
I’d probably be more interested in confectionary than
a Grimes’ track. I feel very cynical. In my effort towards
taking a more empathetic approach to life I’m thinking
I should give Grimes a chance.
